Demarcation Diaries
10 October 2001
Steve (Team B) : This will be my final update from the Deni Demarcation. Today we recieved the message that the Minister has signed the decree that recognizes the Deni land and protects the Deni's rights. All we are waiting for now is publication of this in the "Diario", the Federal newsletter. more
Martin (Team A) : Writing from the Comandante Savio: We - foremost the Deni - but also Greenpeace - have good news! The area will soon be Deni land! more
Note: Volunteers and the Deni work in three different teams. Team C (Cuniuã Team) works by boat following the Coxodoã, Cuniuã and Canaçã rivers, the natural boundary of the Deni territory along the eastern perimeter. Teams A and B started at the north west tip, working away from each other, assisting the Deni in cutting a 1.5 meter path through the jungle and erecting signs identifying the Deni territory.
