Demarcation Diaries
10 October 2001
Writing from the Comandante Savio: We - foremost the Deni - but also Greenpeace - have good news! The area will soon be Deni land! The Brazilian justice minister has signed the decree, now we await it's publicaiton in the official government "diario". The chief, Biruvi Deni, has thanked all volunteers and is now in the village again - and, I suppose, preparing himself for the big party in the village right now!
Also, for me personally, this is a special day, a big victory and one of my best day in my whole life! We have secured an ancient rainforest of 1.500.000 hectares, as big as 1/6
of Austria. We - Deni, volunteers, Greenpeace crew and ship crew, a very good team - are a bit tired because of the quite hard work, but very aware
of the very special day and just very happy! Now we will go to Manaus, have a very relaxing week on the ship "Comandante Savio". POSITIVO!
