Demarcation Diaries
2 Sepetmber 2001
We'll arrive at Caraurari in a few minutes, where the ship will
stay the night. A change in our routine, and I expect to learn
how to dance forró! If I'm not unlucky enough to be chosen
to do the watch tonight...
Here there is a family, the Lobo (which means "Wolf"
in Portuguese), who don't like Greenpeace very much, since they
have exported illegal logs from the region, and the last time
Greenpeace was here they lost two loads of logs due to a Greenpeace
action. I hope that there won't be any problems with them. Remote
rural areas of Brazil can be violent and dangerous sometimes.
I also hope that there won't be rain like we had this afternoon,
otherwise there won't be any fun at the city.
