Demarcation Diaries
9 September 2001
Today the Canaca team helped the Deni put up the first sign at
our starting point on the Cuniua river (position MC-01). We also
cleared the brush from around the area to make the sign easier
to see from both sides of the river. Very nice.
After that, the Deni, completely happy, decided to go and collect
some tasty turtle eggs for dinner. No comments from the team.
It is their land and that is what we are fighting for so... Just
for those of you who are freaking at this moment, they just take
30 eggs and leave the other 70 for the mother. At the moment it
is a big discussion in the kitchen because it is not possible
to fry them.
In the afternoon we put in the second sign (Postion 13) after
clearing away some logs. We will spend the night here and tomorrow
we will continue up the Canaca river to Postion 12.
The team is still OK although Petros and Samuel are having bad
allergic reactions to the piums
(Manuel, try to send us some mosquito hats, if it's possible).
That all for today, more tomorrow
