Ian

I'm 33 years old and a tropical doctor, and have been a Greenpeace doctor on the ships between 1997 and 1999 during expeditions to the North Atlantic, the Antarctic and the Mediterranean. I love wilderness hiking and have travelled in Tibet, Papua New Guinea, the Congo and China.

I visited the Deni lands in 1999 on the Noe IV in the earliest stages of this project, and I am delighted to be involved in this next stage. I used to work in Accident and Emergency in the United Kingdom and Australia but now work in Public Health in Cornwall, with a particular interest in environmental influences on health.

The river is stunningly beautiful but the piuns (black flies) are vile. I'm going to miss ice as a luxury item, I suspect.
