My name is Jan Cramer and I'm 27 years old. I live in the
city of Frankfurt (the one at the river Main) in Germany
where I study political science and work as an underground
tram driver to finance myself.
In the beginning of 1999 I got in contact with a local
Greenpeace group and started to work for them as a volunteer.
Only half a year later I took part in my first Greenpeace
action which was against the production of genetically modified
food.
Since then I participated in a lot of actions in Germany
and other European countries, in the last month especially
concerning nuclear fuel transports and reprocessing.
And now I'm here in the Amazon region and I'm really glad
to be taking part in the Deni's self-demarcation project.
As a member of this international Greenpeace team it offers
me the chance to make a personal contribution to the protection
of a large part of the tropical rainforest before it gets
cut down forever.
