Angnaldo
Being born in the interior of the Amazon, where I lived
close to an indigenous community, I learned well how to
paddle a canoe and I learned some things about survival
in the forest. I know how to make spears, I am an experienced
camper, I can build shelters in the jungle and make fires
for cooking. I am also comfortable using machetes and other
jungle tools.
I have always been interested in indigenous cultures and
some of my mother's family are indigenous Amazon people.
I believe that the completion of the demarcation of the
Deni lands will be an important step in recognising the
value of Indians in Brazil as human beings. I think it is
important to know that Greenpeace is helping the Indian
people get rights to their rightful lands. This is a basic
right in any society.
I also hope this project contributes to and motivates other
great future projects in the Amazon region, because each
day that passes even more is destroyed and little is preserved.
And I want my presence to contribute very much to the group.
I am used to hard work and pledge to do my tasks to the
maximum. I always respect the work of the group.
With relation to the time I will spend helping the Deni
with their demarcation, without a doubt I will learn from
them, and I do not want to contribute anything to them that
harms or offends.
Being honoured to be part of this project also fits with
my personal motivation to contribute to works in support
of the society and culture of the Amazon, my home.
