Crew Profiles Bob James , Second Engineer Previous Index Next     Bob James is British and an engineer/ electrician by trade. Before joining Greenpeace in 1990 he worked in the British Royal Navy, with three years in submarines. He has also worked on fishing trawlers, yachts, and calls himself a "failed musician". When not working for Greenpeace he is chief engineer of Britain's only theatre ship. He says the theatre ship is "just as mad as Greenpeace so I seem to fit in there too". He's worked on campaigns "of all shapes, sizes and denominations" in the Meditterranean, the Antarctic, and on Greenpeace ships including the Rainbow Warrior, the mv Greenpeace and the Sirius.
