Crew Profiles Richard Pearson, Mechanic Previous Index Next     Richard Pearson, univerally known as "RP", is the outboard mechanic and deckhand on board. He's an Australian, born in England, and before joining Greenpeace in 1991 was a commercial artist and book illustrator. He joined Greenpeace because "it gives me a chance as an individual to make a difference". He has worked for Greenpeace on the Rainbow Warrior in the Pacific, the west coast of North and Central America, and on the Arctic Sunrise in the Arctic. He was recently incarcerated in a Tokyo jail for hanging a banner at the Tokyo Big Site Toy Fair but released after international outcry. He says his other special interest is to "look after my mom".
