HURRICANE CALVIN HITS THE MEXICAN COAST, FORCING PORT CLOSURES.

Its wind speeds are up to 190 kph and in the state of Colima, the hurricane throws four metre high waves along a 225 kilometre front. In the state of Michoacan the hurricane destroys 700 homes, a bridge, highways and potable water systems. In the port of Lazaro Cardenas, it sinks the Norwegian ship, Betula, which beaches with 5,000 tonnes of sulphuric acid aboard.
