SmILE - Greenpeace

Even the most devoted car lover would admit that the car is not good news for the environment. The transport sector is responsible for 22% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, and cars contribute 80% of this. We must reduce the ecological impact of the global car culture upon our biosphere. Car manufacturers have until now failed to take even the first step in the right direction - that is the production of the most efficient vehicle possible using existing technology.

Greenpeace has taken that first step by producing the SmILE, a modified Renault Twingo, which is almost 50% more efficient than its conventional counterpart and other cars of similar size.

Find out in these pages, why and how Greenpeace - the world's largest activist environmental organization - is seemingly promoting a car technology, called the SmILE Concept, in order to protect the environment.

Small - Intelligent - Light - Efficient
