40 Greenpeace activists from six nations (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, UK and Germany,) blockaded four Norwegian whaling vessels (Villduen, Seie, Senet and Seiebuen) to prevent them leaving port. Activists secured themselves to the railings of one whaling ships and tied floating blue rope through three of the vessels. Other activists remained in the water with buoys blocking their exit and held up a banner reading "NORWAY STOP WHALING."

With the arrival of local Norwegian youth apparently called in by whalers to forcefully end Greenpeace's peaceful effort to prevent their leaving port for the whaling grounds today, Greenpeace agreed to end its protest after four hours.
