The Quakers are a religious movement founded by the English, non-conformist, itinerate preacher George Fox in the 17th Century. A Quaker protest inspired the first Greenpeace voyage and the Quaker philosophy of 'Bearing Witness,' a form of non-violent resistence whereby someone protests simply by being at an objectionable scene, was adopted by Greenpeace.
