The
Esperanza returns to Cape Town
This morning we were greeted by the
sunrise over Table Mountain on the South African coastline.
The sea was calm, and the sky was clear. Serkan hoisted
the flags as we cruised into Table Bay to take on fuel
and supplies and wait for our next assignment.
The journalists who came out on the
Esperanza with us to protest the plutonium shipment
have filed good stories. With photos of the Pacific
Pintail running from the Esperanza on the front pages
of at least two Cape Town newspapers, the nuclear industry
has failed once again to hide their dangerous cargo
from the public view. How long can they expect to get
away with endangering the lives of people in each country
they pass?
Much our amusement the newspaper article
also mentions Francisco's
herculean appetite and specialy large plate. There's
been talk of adding his now infamous dinner plate to
the Esperanza's open day tour.
I'm looking forward to heading out
to sea once again. I've found my sea legs and I'm ready
for the next adventure.
