Engineer
I am
Baris Saldur, born in Izmir, Turkey. I'm the third engineer
of
the MV Esperanza.
My reason for being here is my support for
the past and future
activities of Greenpeace. I am well aware that staying silent
will
only help imperialism, which will limit the the rights of
people in the
world. I'm here to protest peacefully, hopefully helping stop
the
crimes against our planet and all the living creatures in
it.
The Earth Summit in Johannesburg is a very
good chance for those
who are responsible for 25% of CO2 emissions, with only 4%
of the
world's population, to support the Kyoto protocol. I hope
that,
beginning with the USA, all those bearing the major responsibility
for pollution in the world will take the chance to accept
the protocol
and make their best efforts for getting it approved by their
parliaments.
I carry the hope of a world in which people
wil respect all living
creatures' right to live and I will do my best to serve the
aim of
creating such a world.
