Bob
Chief Engineer
Hello! My name is Bob,
Having been a Greenpeace member and having
lived near the green roof of the Greenpeace office in Amsterdam
for quite some years, I feel close to Greenpeace and its aims
and methods.
Only recently I joined the organisation.
And it is really inspiring to see how the ships crew and action
people give the best they can to reach the goals that they
believe in.
Greenpeace focuses sharply on ecological
and environmental issues. Well thought through actions bring
awareness to both public and governments on issues like sustainable
development, good use of natural resources, the struggle against
poverty.
I believe that organizations like Greenpeace
need to be there to bring some balance to the world of growing
economy's.
It is my dream to give a personal contribution
to help to get this balance right. And when like me, you love
the oceans and the seas and when you're trained as a ship's
engineer, then a Greenpeace ship is where you want to be!
Another one of my passions is Africa. A wonderful
continent that deserves a better treatment from the western
world. Right now South Africa is the host to the World Summit
on Sustainable Development. And the Esperanza is on Africa's
coast to show the world that discussing Sustainable Development
is worthwhile. But the actions resulting from the talks, that's
what it's really about! Nuclear power and Pirate-fishing in
African waters by EU-countries are examples of what we don't
want.
Fair trade and sustainable energy, Yes Please!
