Raquel

I’m a volunteer from Spain, and this is my second trip on a Greenpeace ship. I’ve been working for five years with a local support group in Spain, mainly taking the message of Greenpeace to people on the streets.

I grew up in a coastal city, where we had a very polluted river that flowed into a beach. Our parents wouldn’t let me swim there because of the pollution, and I always wished that the river and the sea were clean, that we didn’t always have to look for a place where were it wasn’t dangerous to swim.

I always wanted to work on a Greenpeace ship, campaigning all around the world on different environmental issues. Being on the ship you sometimes see problems more directly than just looking at them on TV or in magazines. Working with the different Greenpeace offices around the world is always an inspiration, and I like to see the energy and enthusiasm on other volunteers like me.
