Women's caucus damns proceedings

I have a piece of paper in my hand right here from the Women's caucus that says "The WSSD is attempting to undermine women's rights, health and fundamental freedoms. This would take the international community back ten years in the field of human rights"

In particular it refers to paragraph 47 of the 'Implementation Document' which basically says that womens rights should be respected 'consistent with national laws and cultural and religious values'.

Greenpeace believes in equal employment - there are plenty of strong willed women in this organisation. We could not do what we do without women. Currently on this team I work with Susan Cavanagh, the lead media co-ordinator, Annette Cotter, a genetic engineering campaigner from New Zealand, Rosa Moreno from Chile who works on climate, energy and developing country issues, Zeina El-HAjj from Lebanon who works on trade, corporate accontability and toxics and Mahi from Greece who works on Climate and politics. In fact the list goes on... there are 21 women on this team working on Greenpeace issues here at the summit.

The womens caucus is calling for the replacement of the text with that says 'consistent with national laws and cultural and religious values' with '... in conformity with all human rights and fundamental freedoms.'
