Don’t Invest in the Destruction of Canada’s Ancient Rainforest.

As February approaches, many Canadians are beginning to consider how to best prepare for future retirement through Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSP) investment contributions in Canadian mutual funds. The last few years have seen a huge expansion in a mutual fund industry which now controls over $400 billion of personal investments.

Many Canadian investors are simply handing over their hard-earned wages to mutual fund companies, to invest in their name, with precious little knowledge about where or how the dollars are being used.

Would it trouble you to find out that your money, invested in good faith, may be contributing to the clearcutting of our ancient forests? Would this be consistent with your goals of planning for the future - is this your vision of a world in which you would want to retire?
