FOOD PRODUCERS AND RETAILERS SAY "NO!" TO GE-FOOD

December 1999 - When agrochemical companies like Monsanto and Novartis introduced their genetically engineered (GE) products on the market, they had no idea public opposition would be so strong. All over the world people are saying "No!" to GE foods. As more and more consumers reject them, so several retailers and food producers are taking steps to remove the unnatural foodstuffs.

Greenpeace collected information on the positions of food producers and retailers in a number of countries. An overview of GE policies of companies in different countries can be found on the following pages. However, these lists do not claim to be complete.
