Greenpeace
believes that there should be no irreversible releases
of GMOs into the environment.
- Write to your local
and national politicians demanding that your government
ban the growing of genetically engineered crops
in your country.
- Contact farmers in
your neighbourhood or farmers organisations. Ask
them to stay GE-free and to help providing GE-free
food by not growing GE-crops now and in the future.
Greenpeace
believes that consumers have the right to choose whether
they want to eat genetically engineered food or not.
Demand
GE-free food!
- Ask your supermarket
manager to guarantee foods on sale are free of genetically
engineered ingredients.
- Buy organic (if you
can afford it).
- If you are unsure
whether a product is GE-free or not, ask your supermarket
or the producer.
- Bring back any food
labelled as containing or being derived from GMOs
should you have bought it by accident (for instance
because the labelling was too small and too hard
to detect). Ask the retailer to either refund you
or to give you a GE-free alternative instead.
- Ask for guaranteed
GE-free menus at your favourite restaurant.
- Write to main food
producers demanding GE-free foods.
- You can now join
Greenpeace's consumer
networks web page.
