Siberian Tiger in the forest The Siberian Tiger - The Largest Cat on Earth Living in the Snow Forests of Asian Russia

The Siberian tiger is a big cat with black stripes, which makes it almost invisible when it quietly stalks its prey. It is extremely strong - and can even drag away horses!

These tigers love thick forests, reed covered banks and bamboo bushes as well as treeless grasslands. They live in the forests of Asian Russia, which is the eastern third of the Russian Federation and covers over 663 million hectares, more than two-thirds of the US.

Siberian tigers share their home with leopards, bears and deers as well indigenous people and many different types of plants.

A century ago there were still several thousand Siberian tigers but due to illegal logging and trade, only 400 live freely in a small area north of Vladivostok along the Sea of Japan.
