To the People of South Africa

12 August, 2002

This is just a short message of solidarity from the Pacific Nuclear free seas flotilla. We have just carried out a successful high seas demonstration against the shipment of 225 kg of reject plutonium true our region. Most of the countries in the Pacific are outraged that the nuclear industry has a total disregard for the people of the Pacific and shows a total lack of respect by continuing these dangerous shipments.

The nuclear industry never should have seen the light of day, it never took responsibility over the waste that it creates, and is putting the problem onto the shoulders of future generations. They should be stopped.

We wish you strength in your opposition to the new reactor, and in your opposition against the shipments of nuclear waste over the worlds oceans and of your coast, together we stand strong and we can stop them.

Kind regards
On behalf of the Pacific nuclear free seas flotilla.

Skippers, Henk Haazen and Bernard Kushera.
