Stop Plutonium Terror

Crewmate. James
Campaigner
Australia

My name is James and I am a campaigner from Greenpeace Australia. I began working for Greenpeace about three years ago as a volunteer and it was in my home port of Fremantle that I first came aboard the Arctic Sunrise. At that time I decided I wanted to one day join a Greenpeace ship as a campaigner so being on board (and at sea) is a real buzz.

I now live in Bondi, beside one of the most famous beaches in the world, but a beach past which over eighty plutonium and high level waste shipments could sail over the next few years.

The nuclear industry would prefer these shipments to take place in secret, would like you to beleive that they are completely safe and that there is no danger. The reality is that accidents can and do happen, there is no safe level of exposure to radiation and if there was a severe accident at sea there would be little that could be done to protect the environment in the area surrounding the catastrophy.

When I am not working I like to hang out at home with my fantastic housemates playing music, going to the beach, riding my bike and reading (sometimes about things other than the nuclear industry but not often.)

A big thankyou to all of Greenpeace supporters who make our work possible !
