Stop Plutonium Terror

I've now been with Greenpeace 3 years, two on the ships and one as a Stop Star Wars campaigner in California.

Last Hiroshima Day, August 6, 2001, I began a GP hike to the U.S.'s Thule Air Force Base in Greenland as part of a protest to the siting of a Star Wars radar there. This was the 25th anniversary of my first direct action, a blocking of the entrance to the Montana Air Force base that controls the 200 nuclear missiles sitting in silos throughout the site.

I believe that compassionate, nonviolent people can create a future to live and flourish in. When I'm off the ships, I hike, teach wilderness medicine, and help train folks in nonviolent civil disobedience with The Ruckus Society. Over the last few days I've counseled folks about malaria, taught about heat emergencies and spinal injuries, and assisted with a nonviolent direct action training. It's an honor to sail with people from all over the world who are willing to risk illness, injury and loss of liberty in defense of the only planet we have.

If only the presence of tiger sharks didn't prevent us from swimming, life would be perfect.
