Argentina

  • CCAMLR country
  • Pirate home country - Argentina is known to be home to pirate fishing companies, some of which have operated vessels flagged to Argentina.
  • Licensed fishing country - Argentina is one of the CCAMLR members continuing a 'legal' fishery for toothfish despite massive uncertainty about the impact of illegal fishing on stocks of toothfish. There is a toothfish fishery within Argentina's EEZ.
  • Market country - Toothfish is called merluza negra or Bacalao de profundidad here.
