They are Ruining the Oceans
and Stealing Our Fish

Transfering Tuna to refridgeration ship Tuna longliner

They move from fishery to fishery taking as much fish as they can pull out of the sea. They don't care about what impacts they have on fish populations, other marine species or on legal fishermen trying to survive on rapidly declining fish stocks.

Sometimes they stay out for years, changing crews, refuelling, resupplying and offloading their catches at sea, just to escape any control. They hide their identities and use flags of convenience, or simply no flag at all, as they plunder the oceans.

Greenpeace is calling on all nations to:

  • Close ports to Flag of Convenience (FOC) fishing vessels and FOC fisheries-related support and transport vessels.

  • Close market to FOC-caught fish and fish products.

  • Prevent companies registered under their jurisdiction from owning or operating FOC fishing vessels and fisheries-related support and transport vessels.
