Belize
- Flag of convenience country - One of the Top 10 flag of convenience
countries. Belize is a country that sells its flag to foreign companies
seeking to escape fisheries regulation. There are several pirate toothfish
vessels using the Belize flag. In February 1999, Greenpeace found a
Belize-flagged pirate called "Salvora" fishing in the French EEZ around
Kerguelen Island. The vessel had already been arrested by Australia
and is Spanish owned. It is still fishing for toothfish.
