Take Action

International political pressure will be key to stopping Japan's illegal whaling in the Southern Ocean Sanctuary.

Contact New Zealand Foreign Minister Phil Goff:

  • Tell the Minister you are outraged at Japan's continued illegal whaling in the Southern Ocean.
  • Urge the Minister to demand a halt to Japan's whaling program.
  • Call on the government to enact port ban legislation which will prevent whaling and resupply vessels from using New Zealand ports

I am outraged to learn that Japan continues to hunt whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. This is illegal and undermines international law. Please contact the Japanese government and urge them to halt immediately their illegal whaling program.

The New Zealand government should also immediately enact legislation which will prevent whaling and re-supply vessels from using New Zealand ports.

Sincerely
