TWIN VICTIMS OF CORPORATE GREED AND IRRESPONSIBILITY

The dual atmospheric crises of ozone layer depletion and global climate change are the illegitimate, unwanted and unplanned offspring of industrial society. They are both the byproducts of human ingenuity and creativity on the one hand, and corporate greed and negligence on the other. In fact, they are the byproducts of technologies which have brought great material benefits to humanity, have transformed human existence forever, but in the long run, have proven to be the cause of environmental catastrophes.

Between them, ozone layer depletion and global warming induced climate change represent the greatest environmental threat to the well being of human life on the planet. They impact negatively on all primary human concerns such as human health, the security of food supplies, human habitat and the state of the entire global biosphere. Furthermore, they have a synergistic feedback relationship to one another, so that each crisis exacerbates the other.
