History with Greenpeace: I have been working on board Greenpeace ships since 1999.

Before that I was a captain on traditional sailing ships. I sailed always with tourists, but I wanted to do something more meaningful, something with a goal.

Why this campaign is special: This is an interesting campaign for me because when I am not sailing I am a furniture maker.

The main material I work with is wood. I really like to work with it because it's alive, but on the other hand when I see all the forest being destroyed I have mixed feelings.

I always try to buy FSC wood (independently certified as sustainably managed), but it's still hard to find the shops that sell it in Holland. I hope it will soon become more standard, and people learn why it's so important to buy FSC wood.
