Name: Miguel
Position on board: Cook
Nationality: Argentina
History with Greenpeace:For twenty years I had the idea that I should do something for the environment, but did not do much of anything. Then one day I saw Greenpeace on the television. I called them up and asked how to help.
I spent four years as a volunteer Greenpeace Argentina office, working on the toxics campaign. I had worked for ten years as a cook in the Argentinean merchant navy. Now I cook on Greenpeace ships.
Favourite tree: I have a house on a river delta. I love the trees and the water there. It is very natural. I try to talk to my neighbours about not throwing away their garbage in the river.
At my house we have a pine tree, which I planted in my back yard. It is about a meter tall now. I also like the magnolias, the smell of their flowers.
Best thing about the Esperanza: I like everything. The kitchen is very big, the people are very hospitable.
