Rodrigo

Name: Rodrigo

Position on Board: Deckhand

Nationality: Chilean

History with Greenpeace: I joined as a volunteer in 1994, and since then I've done everything which is possible to do in a Greenpeace office. Believe me, everything (well, I mean, paint banners, collect signs, participate in actions, give presentations, those kinds of things…).

Anyway, since that time, my very deep and personal goal was to be a Greenpeace crewmember, so, being here today is one of the highest summits I've climbed in my life, the life on top of a rainbow.

And being involved in the forest campaign is so significant for me and my office. In Chile, we have still have some of the oldest and maybe most pristine forests in the world, some of them still untouched and inaccessible. They are very important support for different types of ecosystems, which are endangered, and of course for humans as well.

Showing the people the "power of one" is what has kept me on the move for so long with Greenpeace. And maybe one of my biggest satisfactions all this time has been motivating a lot of people to take action, to join Greenpeace and other "healthy energy providers", to do things according to their needs and dreams, help the world move, moving yourself in the direction that your soul pushes you… But don't forget, MOVE!!!

Favourite Forest or Best Tree Experience: One of the most important experiences in my life was as an outdoor guide in Torres del Paine National Park, Patagonia, Chile, hiking alone at 2 a.m. I suddenly found myself facing a Puma 3 meters away from me. He stayed for more than two minutes doing circles and then he left but I still could feel him walking very near me for more than one hour. Maybe he was guiding me to not make a mistake, like going too near his babes, maybe scaring me, maybe playing, or maybe it just was my god, guiding me along the trail.
