Sewing woes on the Warrior
By Nikki, logistics/deckhand. 19 March. Well, I've been
nagged (well not really nagged as such) to write a crew
diary and tell all of you out there of my adventures and
mishaps upon the Warrior.
Today has been a pretty uneventful but busy day. I awoke
with a hangover type feeling, even though I didn't drink
anything last night; it must have been suppressing itself
from the night out in Genoa a few days ago (I was a tad
messy, but I don't think anybody else was). I crawled of
my bunk, did the breakfast thing and began general ship
cleaning duties.
I was tiding the mess (dining area), and was taking my
time due to the fact that I knew that I was going to be
stuck on the sewing machine for several hours making banners,
which I can't say is one of my favourite tasks, especially
as I'm not that great on a sewing machine either. I also
knew that last time I used the machine it was having several
teething problems, but decided then to deal with them the
next time I used the machine. Not such a great idea!
I spent most of the morning taking the machine apart, and
then trying to put it back together again unsuccessfully.
After several attempts, and cursing under my breath, I decided
to ask Cees to help me. After his attempt and also failing
miserably, I grabbed Phil who said that he'd look at it
later.
Anyway, after wasting all morning playing with the machine
I thought it would be more constructive to begin to mark
out the banners, and sew them at a later date if the sewing
machine ever lives again (which I'm quite skeptical about
after disassembling it).
So my day continued with marking out banners, and painting
them whilst dancing around the mess area, which is pretty
common for me.
As the night draws in, my head still hurts so I will probably
take an early night, as there is lots of training happening
tomorrow. Yippeee
and I also think that I should
have another tinker with the sewing machine (groan).
So I'll take my sleepy and groggy head in to my cozy bunk
and bid farewell.
Nikki
