Rainbow Warrior displays new sails as third day of action commences

10 March, 12:00pm. As the protest against the African log ship Meltemi continued into its third day, crew members raised the Warrior's new forest sails. The sails depict the 'seven magnificent' iconic species at risk of extinction in the world's remaining ancient forests.

Night operation reveals more ancient forest wood bound for France

4 March, 9:00pm. Sete, France. Seven activists have boarded the vessel Meltemi off the French port of Sete in the Mediterranean. The activists are documenting the ship's cargo: hundreds of logs from ancient forests in Liberia bound for buyers in Europe.

Police confront Greenpeace on third day of log ship occupation

27 February, late. We have just been overpowered by police forces. Around 1715 hours two police boats, four zodiacs and a Navy tug boat steamed out of the Sete harbour. They quickly surrounded the Agia Irene and set to work removing two activists from the anchor chain. The police cut the fuel line on one of our zodiacs and threw canisters of tear gas into the boats.

Greenpeace boards Liberian log ship bound for France

25 February, 5:15am. Greenpeace activists have departed the Rainbow Warrior on inflatable boats and are bound for the Agia Irene. The Agia Irene, anchored only a few kilometres away outside the port of Sete in southern France, is carrying hundreds of logs from Liberia's tropical forests.
