SEPTEMBER 25- GREENPEACE CHALLENGES HAMBURG ENVIRONMENT SENATOR.

Today Greenpeace has started legal proceedings against the Environment Senator of Hamburg State for failing to prevent the illegal discharge of TBT into waterways from dock activities.

To highlight the ongoing pollution with TBT Greenpeace activists held a demonstration outside the Senators office were 20 bags of TBT polluted habour sludge were dumped on his doorstep and a copy of the legal case against him was delivered to his address.

Sand bags prevent Tbt runoff reaching the sea Last Wednesday (September 23) just one day in to the action to highlight the problem of TBT pollution at the Nordwerft Dock in Hamburg we were forced to evacuate the habour area to allow for the detonation of a 2000 kg WW II bomb which had been discovered in the habour.

This must be the most persuasive reason we have ever been given by the authorities for leaving the site of an action!
