TOXIC FREE FUTURE TOUR
During the build
up to the signing of a UN
treaty on toxic pollutants Greenpeace has completed a global toxics tour
with the aim to research, expose, bear witness and stop the toxic pollution
of our rivers and oceans. Toxic pollution represents a major threat to the
quality of our waters, health and environment at large.

Stages of the Tour:
Baltic
Tour -April/May 2001: The MV Greenpeace has recently completed the
final leg the Global tour in the Baltic Sea region. See here

Americas Tour
- Nov 2000 - April 2001: The MV Arctic Sunrise toured the Americas visiting
Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and the US to uncover pollution hotspots.

Asia
Tour - Dec 1999 - April 2000:
The Rainbow Warrior toured the region making its first visit to some Asian
countries. The ship visited pollution hotspots in India, Thailand, The Philippines,
China and Japan.
Mediterranean Tour - Sept/Oct
1999 and August/Sept
2000
The Rainbow Warrior in 99 and MV Greenpeace toured the region to help
ensure ratification of the Barcelona Convention on protection of the
Mediterranean Sea.
OSPAR Tour
- Aug to Oct 1999:
The "Down to Zero" toxics boat tour was conducted to give teeth to the commitments
made at OSPAR to phase out all hazardous substances in North West Europe,
including the EU, in one generation (i.e. by 2020).
Latin
America Tour - DEC 1998 to Jan 1999:
The global tour started here in South America on 1 December 1998 and focused
on sources of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in the region.
