Rough weather
December 18th - Day 20
 |
 |
Got plenty of wind and waves today, but no whaling - not in this weather.
Sea is rough; wind is at 30 knots (a moderate gale). We are headed northeast - keeping pace with the whaling fleet. Hmm, isn't Japan roughly to the northeast? Maybe they've given up and are headed home? Ha, ha, ha… we wish.

Our ship is rocking and rolling as we push through the waves (did I mention that the Sunrise was built without a keel?), but the crew's happy because there's no whaling.
We're spending the day doing some cleaning and fixing a few little things; and catching up on some lost sleep as best we can.
As for me, I'm doing the eight to twelve watch for Jesse tonight (since he wrote the update for me yesterday). Better try to grab some sleep now so I can be fresh and alert later on.
