Sunny day
January 14th  -  Day 47

Swab em good ye maties!
Today was the warmest day we have had in many weeks. So, of course, most of the crew spent it out scrubbing the decks. Under Olivier's watchful eye the crew scrubbed with stiff brushes from aft to fore - from heli deck to monkey island.

Have to have clean decks, after all.

Later, Waldemar staged a fire drill. We all helped fire teams run out hoses, and everybody got in a little practice with them. In a real fire situation there would be two fire teams. One team would use its hose to attack the fire. The second team would protect the first with a wall of spray.

While we were working with the hoses, the BA (breathing apparatus) teams put on their gear and practiced searching a blacked out lower deck, on hands and knees, for missing crewmembers. A fire could easily fill the ship up with smoke, making it impossible to see, and down by the floor is where it's going to be safest - less heat and less chance of being caught in a back flash.

Now it's 19.15. Work is over for the day, and most of the crew is up lying on the freshly cleaned deck enjoying the sunshine. A pleasant end to a pleasant day.
