Melbourne speaks out
January 23rd  -  in port

Working the street.
A Greenpeace activist (wearing eyeball) talks to folks on the street about whaling.
Around the world today, Greenpeace activists are protesting commercial whaling.

Here in Melbourne, Greenpeace street canvassers and volunteers (including Iain, Nick, Sheila, Alan, Dale, Kitty and Lance) where downtown by the Yarra river spreading the word. People they spoke to enthusiastically signed post cards to Alexander Downer (Minister for Foreign Affairs).

The Japanese government is attempting to pack the International Whaling Commission (IWC) by buying the votes of developing countries. The government of New Zealand is the only country so far to condemn this practice, but a lot of people in Melbourne want their government to be the next.

Nice job everybody!
Stop whaling.
A lot of support in Melbourne today for the end of commercial whaling.
