Lama Deckhand Lebenon

Lama has a masters degree in ecosystems management. She is an environmental specialist/consultant by profession, which mostly means conducting environmental impact assessments, but she also works on environmental surveys; and development and reforestation projects.

At first, her parents were not convinced that working on a Greenpeace as a deckhand - preferring that she stick to a more conventional career path. But now they see that this is where her heart belongs.

Lama is a vegan - she is against the mass animal production and hunting/ fishing because she knows we can sustain our selves without consuming animal products at the rate that we do. Beef, chicken and lamb are all common in the Lebanese diet, but grains and vegetables constitute a major proportion of it. She was not much of a red meat eater even before going vegan three years ago.

The hard work is actually one of the things she likes about being on the Rainbow Warrior. Her biggest dislike (if any) is cleaning toilets at eight o' clock every morning (except Sundays!). She has never worked on a ship before.

"Yes, I am excited about going to Iceland because nature is different and unique there from other parts of the world, and coz I believe we will reach the Icelanders and make a difference concerning the whales."
