Jose (Pep)

2nd Mate

Catalunya (some people say it is part of Spain)

When from the office told me we were doing a the whale campaign I was very happy, but I have just arrived to the ship so I'm reading to have more information about the campaign.

Why is the Rainbow Warrior going to Iceland important to you?:

Because I was fed up of hot weather in Barcelona, and I thought the best thing would be go to a Nordic Country . (Just joking!)

Seriously, this is the first time I work on the whaling issue, and I now I looking forward to learning more about it.

Why did you start working with Greenpeace?:

I'm a sailor and I like my job, but sometimes I was fed up of only working for making somebody richer (merchant ships, charter business), sailing for Greenpeace I feel my work is worth something.

What do you love (or hate) about working at sea?

A lot of things:
Is a physical work so you feel alive, not like in a office that you feel like you are in jail.
You know different places.
Meet people you don't find in your routine life.
Sometimes you feel really free. Well, now with the email and the satellite phone it is not the same - your mother or girlfriend can call you in the middle of the sea. (More joking!)
